BasicSpace is a site-sensitive theatre festival set in two Victorian safehouses in Peckham, London.
What began as a simple idea by Artistic Director Mark Rolland has grown into an opportunity for artists and audiences to open up their minds to different creative possibilities, in the most unlikely of places.
Our first festival in 2016 saw 6 companies push their practices into new realms, having to work with the building and audiences. From murder mystery to opera, zombies to Shakespeare this week of exciting new work shook up the cultural hub of Peckham.
BasicSpace 2016 received five-star reviews and industry recognition as well as hosting sold-out shows. Some comments were:
